I looked at the DGX301v, phillips GoGear, Sony DCM XXX (the new one that unfolds verticlly) and the one I finally decided on... The Audiovox DC400.

I think the the thing you have to resolve is how serious are you going to take this device? I feel that ultimately if you want a fuctionig camcorder go with one of those camcorders that records to dvd or cd-r. It is fine quality for the amateur and as a technology its much easier to manipulate a disk than personhandle a usb cable or SD chip and the disk holds a lot more but you are talking about $700 for such a device.. Ok its drawback is that you still have to dump your clip to mpeg4.

The new sony is high quality with stereo sound but there is no jack for an external mic. HELLO Sony? At roughly 600 bucks even on the street, I don't feel its worth it.

That leaves the toys. They all need more memory than they come with and 512mb seems to be the limit for supported memmory.

That left the audiovox as my choice as cheapest without sacerificing quality... Or lack of quality as it is.

jB
------------------------------------------------------------------
Sent gingerly from an NYCDOE Blackberry Device

What happened to winter?

I really enjoy winter.... I hope I can look back in a few weeks and say "I regret asking for more"...
